In spite of the tensions and controversies over who would become the heads of the 9th Assembly, it all went according to plan for the majority party, the APC, as its anointed candidates were elected today as President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Senator Ahmed Lawan polled 79 votes to beat his closest rival, Ali Ndume, also of the APC who garnered 28 votes.
Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila who represents Lagos State was elected Speaker after polling 281 votes to defeat Hon. Bago from Niger State who received 76 votes.
