“Ongoing Promo For Free Transfers Until 31st October”
Less than two years since it was introduced, Ecobank’s Rapidtransfer App has continued to blaze the trail and follow the tradition of leadership in digital banking in Africa for which the bank is known.
Rapidtransfer is Ecobank’s proprietary money transfer product which allows users to send funds instantly between 33 African countries where Ecobank operates.
The service is available as a standalone App, on Ecobank Mobile, Ecobank branches and Xpress Points or agents.

MD, Ecobank Nigeria
Recall that in introducing the product, the Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Akinwuntan said it was aimed at tackling the long, burdensome and inefficient processes Africans abroad face when sending money to their home countries.
The fees are affordable, with options for instant delivery or in up to 3 days, depending on fees customer wishes to pay. There is however an ongoing promo during which all transfers are free up until 31st October 2020.
The App features include:
- Safe and secure funds transfers into bank accounts, mobile wallets or as cash
- May be used to pay for goods and services
- Ability for any African (from the 33 Ecobank presence countries) to send money home from wherever in the world they are 24 hours a day, throughout the year.
Ecobank is the only bank in Africa that can make instant transfers to 33 African countries via its Rapidtransfer, as the first authentic African remittance platform with the broadest representation in the region. Many African-owned mobile money operators are limited to the country of their founders but Rapidtransfer is pan African in reach.
According to the bank, the Rapidtransfer App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the App Store and is available to citizens from the 33 countries where Ecobank operates namely:
Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea Conakry, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Benin, Cote D’ Ivoire, Togo, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Customers can send and receive funds from the 33 African countries where Ecobank operates, either in local or foreign currencies such as US Dollars, British Pound Sterling and the Euro and Rapidtransfer delivers the funds in the respective local currency, subject to local regulation.
Non-Ecobank customers can also transfer funds without having an Ecobank Account because the App was designed to ensure that anyone who does not have an Ecobank account can send funds to the 33 African countries where Ecobank operates.
Transfers are instant to Ecobank accounts across Africa and also to some countries which have an instant interbank settlement system such as Nigeria.
For beneficiaries who choose to receive funds as cash, they can do so at Ecobank Branches, Xpress Point agent locations and Remittance Sub-agent partners displaying the Rapidtransfer branding.
