2022 A Year Of Hope & Recovery – UN Scribe

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed the hope that 2022 will bring lots of hope for the resolution of many of the world’s problems.

His New Year message speaks of hope for a future that is being tested by several world issues, including:

  •  Deepening poverty and worsening inequality
  • An unequal distribution of COVID vaccines
  • Climate commitments that fall short
  • Ongoing conflict, division, and misinformation

He notes that all these are not just policy tests but moral and real-life examinations that humanity can pass only, “if we commit to making 2022 a year of recovery for everyone”.

Such resurgence includes will involve the following:

  1. Recovery from the pandemic, with a bold plan to vaccinate every person, everywhere.
  2. Recovery for economies, with wealthier countries supporting the developing world with financing, investment and debt relief.
  3. Recovery from mistrust and division, with a new emphasis on science, facts and reason.
  4. Recovery from conflicts, with a renewed spirit of dialogue, compromise and reconciliation.
  5. Recovery for planet earth, with climate commitments that match the scale and urgency of the crisis.

Guterres noted that these moments of great difficulty are also moments of great opportunity for the world to come together in solidarity, unite behind solutions that can benefit all people and to move forward together with hope in what the human family can accomplish.

He urged all world leaders and citizens to work together in order to make global recovery the resolution for 2022.

This recovery will cover all peoples on the planet and make prosperity achievable.
