94th Academy Awards – Forget The Slapping Incident!

The two slapping incidents that occurred recently were unique in several ways, and they were two of a kind. But over and above the uniqueness, the incidents removed the shine from the main events where they occurred.

Just as Bianca Ojukwu’s slapping of ex-first lady Ebele Obiano diverted attention from the inauguration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo as the 6^th Governor of Anambra State, Will Smith’s dirty slap of compere Chris Rock during last weekend’s academy awards more or less removed the shine from the world’s number one movie awards ceremony.

But we will not forget the reason for the award ceremony – to reward excellence and performance in the make-believe world of movies.

So, who are the 23 winners of the Oscars for 2022? Here’s the list.

The movie, “Dune” went home with the most Oscars, six, followed by ‘CODA’ with three. ‘CODA’ is a unique proposition and by winning the best picture award, made a statement for people and offering with disabilities. ‘CODA’ means Children of Deaf Adults, and the movie focuses on the only hearing member of a family where all other members are deaf. One of the stars of ‘CODA’, Troy Kotsur, won the Oscar for best supporting actor and as a deaf person, this regarded as a breakthrough.
