Ecobank Hosts Acumen Founder Jacqueline Novogratz in Lagos

                                          —EPAC Also Plays Host To Kelechi Amadi-Obi’s ‘Amazing Nigeria’ Photo Exhibition

 Ecobank Nigeria last weekend at the Ecobank Pan African Centre, EPAC, Victoria Island, Lagos, played host to Jacqueline Novogratz, CEO/Founder of Acumen, at a special event tagged, “An Evening With Jacqueline Novogratz”.

Jacqueline Novogratz is the author of the bestselling book, Manifesto for a Moral Revolution and Acumen is a non-profit and impact investment organization which has and continues to pioneer novel ways to tackle poverty, through investments in companies, leaders and ideas across Africa, Latin America, South Asia and the United States.

In her remarks at the event, the Chairman, Ecobank Nigeria, Mrs. Bola Adesola, the bank shares similar values with Acumen, which it actualises through the Ecobank Foundation that aims to transform lives in Africa by focusing on three key areas – Health, Education and Financial Empowerment.

The activities of Ecobank Foundation reach thousands of people across the continent every day and its partnership is helping to change the lives of those most in need on the African continent.

In attendance at the event were Acumen Fellows from the Acumen Academy, Investee company representatives – Paga, Koolboks Nigeria, Winock Limited, and Mr. Atedo Peterside, the founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. The event was also graced by other Bank CEOs, key Government officials, special guests from the private and public sectors, management and staff of Ecobank Nigeria.

Meanwhile, EPAC is also the venue of Kelechi Amadi-Obi’s “Amazing Nigeria” Photography Exhibition.

Amadi-Obi, one of Nigeria’s foremost photo-storytellers, is in partnership with The Macallan in organizing the photo exhibition, in collaboration with Ecobank Nigeria.

The ten-day exhibition which holds till Sunday, November 6, is, according to Amadi-Obi, focusing essentially on Nigeria and her diversity in arts, culture and more importantly, the ingenuity of her creatives. He said the exhibits will also capture the beauty and scenes in Nigeria, including iconic buildings, monuments, landscapes, rainforest, caves, stones, rocks, waterfalls and more.

He explained that the exhibition which promises to be captivating will involve public and private viewing by art lovers, creatives and students on excursion, stressing that, “Throughout the exhibition, visitors will be taken on a tour of the resplendence of Nigeria, through my lens, talent, and belief in our nation’s greatness. Together, we will behold breathtaking images of our dear country, from landscape to lore, inspiring us to the lofty heights we are confident Nigeria can attain.”

The ace photographer thanked Ecobank for supporting his project and the photography industry in Nigeria. He recalled this year’s World Photography Day on August 19th, where Ecobank hosted a highly successful ‘Photo Walk’ as part of the Photography, Arts and Design Exhibition, PADE, to mark the event. Kelechi Amadi-Obi, a seasoned fine artist, has over the years entertained the world with his globally acclaimed commercial and artistic photographs. His skills are rare and his clientele, the preserve of the accomplished.

The Ecobank Pan African Centre is a place where the Bank celebrates creativity and entrepreneurship and it has played host to many high-profile events such as Future Face Africa, Adire Lagos Experience, Photography Arts and Design Exhibition, Fintech Breakfast Series, Annual Women Directors’ Conference, Insurance Meets Tech and others, since the building was commissioned a year ago.
