Following the official launch of the Nigerian Government’s Broadband Infrastructure, 38 Universities and Medium & Small Scale Enterprises have been selected as beneficiaries of the take off project.
The Federal Government’s Provision of Broadband Infrastructure for MSMEs and Education Institutions across the county and distribution of ePads was launched recently in Abuja as part of the national policy on fifth generation (5G) networks for Nigeria’s digital economy.
The 20 Commercial Centres and 18 universities chosen to benefit from the broadband initiative are spread across the country. They are:

- Mandate Market, Ilorin;
- Jos Main Market, Jos, Plateau State;
- Jimeta Central Market, Yola;
- New Market, Gombe;
- Monday Market, Maiduguri;
- Central Market, Gusau, Zamfara State;
- Central Market, Katsina, Katsina State;
- Bodija Market, Ibadan, Oyo State;
- Oja Oba, Akure, Ondo State;
- Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State;
- Ariaria International Market, Aba, Abia State;
- International Modern Market, Owerri, Imo State;
- Main Market, Onitsha, Anambra State
- Watt Market, Calabar, Cross River;
- Oba Market, Benin, Edo State;
- Swali Market, Yenegoa, Bayelsa State;
- Wuse Market, Abuja; and
- Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos

The Federal Government is expected to facilitate its broadband deployment with N800 billion under the National Communications Backbone project.
