Lekki-Epe Road Rehabilitation Ahead of Schedule – Construction Company

Craneburg Construction Company Limited, the company handling the rehabilitation, reconstruction and upgrade of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway from Greensprings to Abraham Adesanya in Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas of Lagos State has assured that the Project is progressing ahead of schedule and under a robust traffic management system.

The company said in a statement in Lagos that in order to ensure minimal impact of the construction works on the everyday lives of the road users and the surrounding communities, it has continued to collaborate with the Lagos State Government, through its the relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and other bodies, including the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Neighborhood Watch.

It noted that that there are usually traffic diversions from time to time, for road construction works of the magnitude of the project and this reduces the total number of lanes available to the road users at a single time. In addition, the breakdown and occasional accidents involving heavy duty vehicles, which constitute a great percentage of road users on that axis, adversely affects the flow of traffic on the already reduced lanes, which sometimes results in bottle necks.

To mitigate the impact of such breakdowns, accidents and diversions, it has put several measures in place to aid the flow of traffic, including the deployment of road signs and diversion barriers; ensuring that some lanes are readily available for usage at any given time in the course of the construction and that such lanes are free of potholes; the implementation of an accelerated and strategic daytime and nighttime works execution programme and the deployment of well-motivated and trained traffic management personnel.

Craneburg called for understanding and cooperation from road users to avoid actions likely to adversely affect traffic management in the corridor. Such commuters should ensure that they comply with road signs and regulations, adhere to the guidelines and directives of traffic management personnel, and exercise patience while on the road.
